We’ve been busy working on making our services even better for creative folks who need music. In the last month, we’ve quietly added the ability to download free music previews of any of our royalty free music. This is very useful for those of you who are working on a client project and need to get their approval before purchasing the license. It also allows you to try out different options and to start working on your film edit, or corporate presentation or wedding video, or whatever, right away.

As you browse through our royalty free music store, you can see the descriptions of every music track. Beneath that, you will see a link that says Download Music Preview. By clicking that, you will get an instant MP3 download of the preview track. All preview tracks are audio watermarked identifying 300 Monks as the source. When you get your project approved, come back and download the final version.

And, if you need help finding a certain sound to go with your project, give us a shout. You can send a link to your video or powerpoint or slides and we’ll come up with some ideas for you from our library.

If I/we knew in advance the outcome of every story, project, job, trip, television show, film, play, etc -  life would be hell.  In fact, my personal definition of hell is stasis; complete stagnation and non-movement – no growth.  So life needs to be an adventure where we don’t always know the endings or what’s going to happen on page 75 or the final scene of Act III or what’s coming around the corner.  But if life is going to be an adventure, how about making it a magical adventure?  Yes!  One that brings things, results, events, people, places to us as if by magic?  How much more fun would life be?

What’s your personal motto or mission?

It needs to be something you can remember and say in one sentence, sort of like a movie description.  The people who write those one or two sentence descriptions really have to be very conscious of being simple, yet profound – able to stir excitement, intrigue and curiosity.  For it to be an effective personal motto, it needs to be like a shorthand code that speaks volumes to yourself.

So as I do every December, review your world as you have created it as of now.  Are you still on your path?  Are you true to your personal power phrase?  Do you even have one?  Give great thanks for all that you have and dream of where you will go this year.

There’s no doubt that Apple and it’s advertising gurus at TBWA Chiat Day have created a lasting sonic impression by choosing songs of a certain sound palette, rhythm and feel in their last few years of advertising iTunes and iPod.

Their sonic / audio branding brief probably reads something like this:

• Quirky yet familiar and not too strange
